2008 CRH Excellence Award Winner Announced
Calais Regional Hospital is pleased to announce its 2008 Excellence Award Recipient is Debora Kinney, CRH Social Worker. The CRH Excellence Award is an honor given to an individual who exemplifies teamwork, respect for people, service to others, outstanding customer service & dedication to quality.
Debora was nominated by her peers and is described as conscientious, compassionate, knowledgeable, positive, respectful, dependable, well organized and professional. She serves on various hospital committees, has participated on Performance Improvement teams, is a member of the CRH Emergency Preparedness Decontamination Team and the palliative care team. She is an excellent advocate for patients and family members and a great asset in emergency situations.
Her volunteer work in the community includes Red Cross Disaster Relief Services, a member of the Princeton Rod & Gun Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Debora’s community service also includes Victim Witness Advocate for Down East Sexual Assault Services, Certified State of Maine Firefighter, Member of the Maine Firefighters Association, Volunteer of the Cooper Fire Dept, Past chair & member of the Cooper Planning Board and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
Debora was born and grew up in New Jersey. She graduated from Queen of Peace High School in N. Arlington where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors, in 3 years, from Regis College in Denver, CO, where she majored in French and minored in English.
Summers were spent in Eastport at the family’s summer cottage. When she graduated from college, she returned to Washington County, eventually marrying her boyfriend from Maine, David Kinney. They have been married for decades. Some time later, her parents and some siblings decided to make the seaside village of Moose Island their year round home.
Debbie’s professional career in social work started as Case Manager with Down East Health Services in Calais. She was manager of Social Services for Atlantic Rehab, and for the past 9 years has been Director of Social Services at CRH.
Debbie’s life outside the Hospital includes husband David and their 3 daughters, all with families of their own. Between Maine and Alaska they have 8 grandchildren to spoil.
Debbie puts a great deal of effort into providing friendship and support to her parents, family, co-workers, patients and their families and her community. A job she does very well. Congratulations to Debbie Kinney on receiving Calais Regional Hospital’s highest honor, the 2008 Calais Regional Hospital Excellence Award.
